Brilliant Easter Weekend full of activity and remembrance-celebrating the Risen God!

It was great to have Poppy and Tommy from Better Story, share about their work supporting the church to respond to Christian Nationalism and the Far Right. How inspiring and something to help our church members feel like the wider church is taking their plight seriously.
#Say No to Racism #no to christian nationalism

It was inspiring to mark Palm Sunday alongside the Together Against Racism march. On Saturday, half a million people filled Whitehall—an incredible show of hope that echoed the spirit of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday. Back then, the authorities were so threatened by His message of love and justice that they killed Him.
This powerful march against the far right, racism, and war brought together people of all faiths, genders, and beliefs—united in a shared vision of hope and peace. We pray that our government listens.
Sally Mann gave a moving talk reminding us that Jesus stands for hope and love—not hate and division. Click the link to hear her message.

Fundraising Appeal
We are seeking seven supporters for seven remarkable teachers who run the Pan Pyoe Lat Education Centre, offering education to children who would otherwise have none.
These teachers have themselves been forced to flee Burma, yet they continue to give their time and skills so that displaced children can still learn. Your support would provide them with a small but essential salary—helping them survive while they continue this vital work. Please contact aanjibarker@icould.com if you would like to help all donations welcome.

It was great for Gwen Gardner (Formerly of Lodge Road URC) and Rev. Anji Barker to visit the Seedbeds projects on the Thai-Burma border in February. They went to see and support some of the 25 new income-generating enterprises that were started by seedbeds students in 2025. From Organic farming to screen printing and everything in between. It was also great to have Thai Cooking classes with the famous “Cooking with Poo” Team training Burmese young people in Thai cooking. This will open employment opportunities for those fleeing forced conscription and war.

Thanks to all who made our “Blue Tuesday” such a uplifting community building night. Karaoke, pub quiz, prizes, blue food. multi cultural, multi generational, multi cultural, multi-religious. We rocked those blues away together.

It was really great to have guests from URC churches in London and the partnership with Jamaican churches to show them our church andcommunity in Winson Green, and to have a conversation around the legacy of Slavery and youth knife crime.
Our local young people hosted the guests- along with some of our community elders and guides. Thanks to everyone who participated – especially Alex Clarke and Valerie Goldsen for the amazing food and blacksmithing. Also thanks to Kyah and Dan for the way you’re always there for our young people — keeping them close, grounded, and supported. You guys truly rock!

Greenbelt 2025 may have come to an end, but the positive energy it created still resonates. In this reflection, the Rev. Anji Barker expresses the delight of the Lodge Road Community Church in participating in the “radical hospitality” of the festival. She highlights how the event provides a glimpse into the work that God is doing across local churches today. To read the full reflection, please see the attached file.
